BCom Capstone (Keystone) Classes
Business Programs
The business capstone course, a required component of virtually all bachelor business programs, usually involves integrative and strategic learning objectives for students. The course typically places unique demands on the student due to its cross-disciplinary nature and is offered in the last semester or two semesters of a business program.

The capstone course can be implemented in various ways. A traditional format is a stand-alone semester-long course that integrates material from the core curriculum, using case studies and guest speakers. The class may be team-taught. Other formats include the development of a business plan with presentations of the students’ plans to panels of judges composed of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and other representatives of the business community. There may also be a business simulation or hosting of a Capstone Conference. In some instances, the capstone course is tailored to specific areas of concentration (e.g., a unique delivery for students specializing in entrepreneurship and venture development, another for international management, and so forth). These courses are commonly called Business Policy, Business Strategy and Policy, or Strategic Management in many business schools in the United States.
